Holland's bizarre purchases;
From a £100,000 book to taxidermied squirrels
A Manchester City star has spent a fortune on a history book and stuffed animals.
Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s Norwegian striker, reportedly earns £525,000 a week and has a penchant for unusual purchases beyond real estate and luxury cars. According to the specialized sports economics platform, citing Tasnim, his interests range from rare historical books to cowboy clothing and taxidermized animals.
One of Haaland’s most unusual acquisitions is a rare 1594 edition of “The Sagas of the Kings of Norway” by Icelandic historian and poet Snorri Sturluson. He purchased the book at an auction in March for around £100,000 and immediately donated it to a public library in Norway’s Time district. Despite previously claiming he wasn’t much of a reader, Haaland ensured this historical treasure would be accessible to the public rather than confined to his private collection.
Haaland’s eclectic shopping spree didn’t stop there. During Norway’s participation in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, he visited the “Wild Bills” western clothing store in Dallas, where he spent approximately £7,500 on cowboy hats, boots, western attire, and unique belts, according to The Sun.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of Haaland’s purchases was his acquisition of taxidermized animals. He paid around £564 for a taxidermized raccoon holding a drink bottle and bought two taxidermized squirrels for a total of about £677. One of the squirrels was dressed in a sheriff’s uniform. After returning from the U.S., Haaland was spotted leaving a plane in Norway with the purchased raccoon.
The Norwegian striker also has a taste for high-end fashion. The Sun reports that his luxury bag collection is valued at around £1 million and includes brands such as Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Tom Ford. Notable purchases include a Hermès bag priced at approximately £60,000 and another model worth £50,000. Haaland has also been seen wearing exclusive Dolce & Gabbana outfits at fashion events.
