FIFA has launched a tender to sell media rights for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups, with bids due by November 19.

The International Football Federation launched a tender process for media rights for the 2030 and 2034 World Cups in the United States and Puerto Rico on October 22, 2026, according to the specialized sports economics platform. Television networks and digital streaming platforms are eligible to bid for the rights to both the 2030 World Cup and, optionally, the 2034 tournament.

FIFA's official announcement set the bid submission deadline for 12:00 PM Eastern Time on November 19, 2026. The organization is seeking innovative proposals that can attract a broader audience to watch the matches.

This decision follows the high spectator figures recorded for the 2026 World Cup in the US market. FIFA's published statistics show that the average audience per match on television and online streaming platforms reached 13.5 million, a 166% increase compared to the average reported for the 2022 World Cup. The final match attracted an average of 63 million viewers in America.

The 2030 World Cup will take place in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with three commemorative matches planned in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay to mark the 100th anniversary of the tournament. Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup.

Media rights are a primary source of FIFA's revenue, which is used to fund tournament costs and football development programs. Competition between television networks and online platforms can influence content distribution, broadcasting rights pricing, and fan accessibility.

This tender is significant not only for selecting a broadcasting network but also for balancing revenue maximization, audience reach, coverage quality, and evolving media consumption habits. The involvement of digital players can create new opportunities for advertising, subscription services, and fan engagement.
