The 2025/26 European football season saw a record-breaking 242 million spectators attend club and national team matches.

According to the sports economics platform, European football set a new attendance record in the 2025/26 season. A new report by UEFA reveals that at least 242 million people attended men's club and national football matches in Europe live.

UEFA's report shows that men's top-level domestic leagues attracted 116 million spectators, a 1.4% increase from the previous record. Additionally, 27 European top leagues saw a rise in attendance, with 17 reaching their highest levels in at least a decade.

At lower levels, 82 million people attended matches live. Domestic cup competitions drew 13 million spectators, while UEFA club matches attracted 20 million fans to stadiums.

These figures highlight the enduring commercial value of live stadium attendance for clubs, even as online streaming and digital media dominate much of the sports audience.

UEFA also reported that 19 clubs in the highest domestic leagues had total home attendance exceeding one million spectators during the season.

Increased attendance benefits clubs beyond ticket sales, boosting economic value through sponsorships, merchandise sales, hospitality services, fan engagement, and commercial stadium use.
